Its an idea for my brothers 21st.

he is interested in “coins”

now what i was thinking to do what create his own “coin collection album” (he does not have one)

but what i was going to do what start collecting and putting them in a album and do it up like a scrapbooking way? So eg, American coins on a page, and around it i will stick on scrapbooking stickers of the American Flag! and stuff like that

instead of having just a plain old coin album.. if you know what i mean..

and i am wondering just for advice or opinions would this be a nice idea to create this for him

That’s a really cute idea. However, most people like to organize their collection in specific ways, which might not be the way you’ve set up the scrapbook. Also, if you use “non coin safe” stuff to get the coins on the pages, you’ll end up damaging them.

Are his coins just sort of lying around loose? If so, you could get your brother a selection of what are known as “2 by 2′s”. They’re pieces of cardboard with a hole cut out to show the coin, and a mylar film on the inside to protect the coin. Place the coin on one side (over the hole), fold it in half, staple the “open” sides, and it’s a coin holder (when it’s finished, it’s two inches by two inches–that’s where the name comes from).

One of the nice things about them is that you can write info on cardboard to identify the coin, the grade, or whatever your brother wants to put on it. You can also get pages that hold 20 two by twos, and fits a standard three ring binder–that actually might be something that you can decorate. I’ve got no artistic skills, so I’ve just got them with albums color coded based on the country they’re from.
